Luckily, her rerecordings have begun to serve as a triumphant reclaiming of the old works that got her here.Ĥ8. "And if you never saved me from boredom / I could have gone on as I was / But, lord, you made me feel important / And then you tried to erase us" – "Would've Could've Should've" from "Midnights (3am Edition)" This melancholy summation of Swift's public battle against music executive Scooter Braun for her masters (the reason she's rerecording her first six studio albums) is heartbreakingly weary. “He's got my past frozen behind glass / But I've got me” – “It’s Time To Go - Bonus Track” from “Evermore” "Back then we didn't know / We were built to fall apart / We broke the status quo / Then we broke each other's hearts" – "The Very First Night (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)" from "Red (Taylor's Version)"Ĭould this be the prequel to "Out of The Woods?" Again, referencing your own past lyrics is simply iconic, legendary behavior.Ĥ9. We love this moment in the song where terror twists into triumph.ĥ0.

To review, for those fortunate enough to have missed the ascendance of “Q” to T-shirt status: On Halloween 2017, someone calling themselves “Q Clearance Patriot” posted to 4chan’s /pol message board. That’s the latest twist in the narrative around this sordid and freakish right-wing conspiracy, born in the swamps of 4Chan and lately stumbling wild-eyed into the crowds of President Trump’s recent Tampa rally. Is the whole QAnon “movement” just a leftist art prank that got out of hand? I’ve outlined 3 reading mini-lessons you could teach using this book. To make it easier for you to use this amazing text during an upcoming reading mini-lesson, I’ve done the prep work for you. And if not, I hope you will order it right now! It is a must have! If you have never read this book, go check your classroom library, you just might have a copy (or two). It is one that I read every year and I will definitely revisit it multiple times throughout the year in both reading and writing. I have been able to pull out and extract so many reading and writing mini-lessons using this text. There is something so special about introducing kids to a wonderful text for the very first time. This means I get to be the one to share a really wonderful story with them. It has typically been a book that my students have never heard before. My favorite mentor text is Owl Moon by Jane Yolen. I want to share my all time favorite mentor text with you and give you 3 different reading mini-lessons you can teach using this book. The reality of it is, teachers have sooooo much to do that it can be hard to read every single book before every single mini-lesson. Sad to say that during my first few years teaching that’s how I approached preparing for my mini-lessons. Have you ever sat down for your reading mini-lesson, grabbed a random book of your library shelf and hoped to be able to extract something meaningful to teach your students? I couldn't put it down! The drama in this book was just as exciting and jaw-dropping as it was in the first book. Which definitely leaves room for a lot of drama! My good friend Dana over at DanaSquare recommended The Royals series to me, and I'm so glad that she did, because I am absolutely hooked on this series and I can't devour it fast enough. Avery made a good protogoanist for this book. The characters were very, very interesting and mysterious especially the Hawthorne brothers. Unbelievable! But it's ok as each chapter is of three or four pages only. The strange thing here is the book has 91 chapters. The book grabbed my attention from the first page itself and I was hooked to it like anything till the last page. The rest of the book is about why she was in the will of an unknown family and as to what is the connection between her and that family along with some puzzles and a love triangle. This book is about a teen named Avery, who leads a low life, scraping through and all of a sudden she's become a heiress to a billionare's fortune and the stranger part is that she is the one who gets the most of the property. Hijinks, heartbreak, and gay fake-dating scheme for the ages. But when an opportunity presents itself for Scottie to get back at her toxic ex (and climb her school’s social ladder at the same time), she bribes Irene into playing along. Their bumpy start the only gets bumpier the more time they spend together. Things only get worse when their nosey, do-gooder moms get involved and the girls are forced to carpool together until Irene’s car gets out of the shop. Keep reading this book review to find out my full thoughts! SummaryĪfter losing spectacularly to her ex-girlfriend in their first game since their break up, Scottie Zajac gets into a fender bender with the worst possible person: her nemesis, the incredibly beautiful and incredibly mean Irene Abraham. Excuse me, but She Drives Me Crazy is a sapphic nemesis to lovers (maybe?) meets fake dating?! She Drives Me Crazy is a whole bundle of some of my favorite tropes all rolled into one combined with SPORTS! I breezed through She Drives Me Crazy. Following that counsel is how-in the twist of the century-I got released from Bedford Hills Correctional early for exemplary behavior. Skinner might have smelled like moldy granola, but she did have some good advice from time to time. Skinner tell me? Don’t trade emotional currency with strangers. I bite down on my tongue to quell the words NEEDLE DICK that want to come flying out of my mouth like darts toward a bullseye. Maybe I was just ready to look again.Ī pedestrian tries to overtake the slow walker in front of them and doesn’t quite make it in time before reaching where I stand, a roadblock dressed in black and severely lacking in anything resembling holiday spirit, thus knocking into me at full speed with his shoulder. But magic is for suckers and children, so that can’t be it. Or I would say Santa’s elves were nipping at my heels, urging me to this exact spot where I’m now standing transfixed by the giant display window outside of Vivant. If I was a girl who believed in magic, I would say there was a tingle of Christmas magic in the air that propelled me east, carrying me through the shopper’s paradise on a wintery gust of wind. I’ll never be able to explain why I deviated from my route and veered down the bustling thoroughfare of high-end shopping. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her-the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul. Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans. There’s also a new cover by Quitely on the slipcase. Quitely’s art is blown up closer to its original size, making all the subtle details and line work that he does shine through even more. If you enjoy the story as much as I did, it’s the definitive edition to own. The Absolute Edition referred to above is the oversized slipcase hardcover edition of the book. He’s also a master of design, providing revised versions of a bunch of familiar Superman characters, homages to classic devices and stories, and his use of space both within the panels and on each page as a whole is remarkable to study. |
